Framed... My New Glasses

Guess What???

I got new glasses

YAY

I have worn glasses on or off since I was 8 years old.
Let me tell you, some of the frames I had as a kid.... ohhh were they pretty..

Awww poor little Jasmine... they are so wonderfully bad 1980's

I now like to think that my taste in glasses has much improved.

They are mainly to help with eye strain. Considering the fact that my day job and a lot of my favourite past times are in front of a monitor, I tend to be in them a lot.

Whilst playing around on eBay recently I stumbled something awesome.
I have always had a soft spot for Cats Eye frames. They just are too cute

The problem I have is...I have a wide face..
So most vintage cat's eye frames make me look like a demented cross eyed Siamese cat.

They are too narrow.

So when i saw these on eBay and realised that they were wide enough, I thought 'what the hell', Hit Buy Now and crossed my fingers.

The Result....

They worked !!!
oh and  I got them in two colours

They are actually on eBay from a few different sellers but here is a link to one store that has both colours. I got them for about $20 a pair... so cheap.

They are light but durable plastic frames. My Optician easily added my prescription lenses

Here is a better look at both colours

The Black Gradient

The Red Gradient

So they are my new glasses, I love them so and they go well with my Rockabilly / Gothabilly look I try to rock most days

I also had new lenses put into my favourite chunky black Red or Dead frames, which i am sure you have all seen before.

Do you wear glasses at all? if so do you have more than one pair??

Shh... I am reading!!

Ok Ok ... I admit it

I am a binge reader.

When I find a series I like, I read the whole thing..

quite quickly..

in row..

and when a new one comes out I often re-read the series so I am on the right wave length.

Not that bad you think...
until you realise some of the series I follow are now on the 22nd novel

I also fortunately have the ability to read quite fast. Not sure why, it is just one of those things I can do

I have my parents to thank, who always read to us from babies and encouraged us to read what we wanted.

As it was International Day of the Book yesterday (April 23)
I thought I would share one of my recent reading efforts

I broke a record the other week... even for me

While still going to work, gaming for a least an hour or two each night and sleeping

I managed to read the latest trilogy from Juliet Marillier in under a week
(about just under 4 days)

All three books

Shadowfell

Raven Flight

The Caller

Needless to say...awesome series.

Juliet Marillier is one of my favourite authors. The worlds she creates are so absorbing and detailed and totally addicting.

It is definitely young adult friendly as well (not so much the smutty steamfests some of the paranormal romance I usually read are)

Juliet’s novels combine historical fiction, folkloric fantasy, romance and family drama. The stories concentrate on the journey of the characters and the human relationships

I do not want to give to much away about the books as they are so worth the read and the adventure of discovering the tale.

Here is the excerpt from Juliet Marillier's website about the first book
"its name is spoken only in whispers, if the people of Alban dare to speak it at all: Shadowfell. The training ground for rebels seeking to free their land from the rule of the tyrannical king is so shrouded in mystery that most believe it to be a myth. But for Neryn, Shadowfell’s existence is her only hope. She is alone and penniless, a fugitive concealing a treacherous magical power that will warrant her immediate enslavement should it be revealed.  She finds hope of allies in the Good Folk, fey beings whom she must pretend she cannot see and who taunt her with chatter of prophecies and tests; and in a mysterious stranger who saves her from certain death but whose motives remain unclear. Will Neryn be forced to make the dangerous journey alone? She must reach Shadowfell, not only to avenge her family and salvage her own life, but to rescue Alban itself."
If fantasy books are your thing... you should definitely try this series... I loved every second.

What is your reading record??

and now
excuse me, it is time for me to now find another book to read....
